Lots to do on the home-front today, so I thought I'd share a little garden update. We've always wanted to plant fruit trees in our backyard, but first needed to get other priorities in place. We've had a potted dwarf orange tree for a while, but hadn't yet planted this, or any others. A couple of weekends ago, the timing was finally right, and we were very excited to add three new fruit trees (+ the orange tree) to our yard.
Blood Orange, Meyer Lemon (both dwarf trees), and Santa Barbara Peach...
fun!!
ReplyDeletethose are adorable, even if a little "short" :)
we planted a peach (georgia style) tree this year. it always makes me a little sad that the leaves droop, but i think that's normal (at least for my kind!) but it's fun to watch the fruit grow!
There is nothing better than picking your own fruit from your own trees! I'm just sad we lost all of ours in the high winds this spring.
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome, Torrie! I grew up with lots of fruit trees in my parents' yard and it was one of the highlights of my childhood. I have so many fond memories of climbing the trees, picking the fruit, and eating it with my brothers. I hope one day Gabe and I will have our own fruit trees. But we need a yard first. haha.

Oh man, I would love to have citrus trees!! We have an apple tree and I love baking with those apples, but nothing beats freshly squeezed citrus juice!!

ReplyDeleteThat is a huge BUMMER.
We were upset when ours (when it was in the pot) got 'hand picked' off by a little (WILD) boy! Didn't realize it till they left...
Suzie-
I totally want an apple tree!
You are so lucky to have fruit trees in your backyard. It is so sweet to be able to eat fruit picked out of your own backyard! naina
