Royal finds for peasant prices.

Okay, maybe not 'T.J.Maxx peasant' but 'Anthropologie peasant.'  I can never get enough purple in my life, especially when it's on sale!  These bowls are my favorite.  I have them in a variety of colors and they're perfect for dessert, cereal, soup...well, just about anything that goes into a bowl.

Introductions and a cool cake.

Although I do not yet have readers (a little weird by the way- writing to the "abyss"), I thought I'd introduce you to my favorite people in the whole, wide world.

Jacob (son, age 12), Hailey (daughter, age 6), & Ryan (husband)...next time I'll even include his handsome face:)

As Jacob has grown older, the need-to-be-cool-not-too-much-like-a-kid's-party requirement has called for a little more thought and creativity.  This year, we decided to have a backyard campout.  Except for the fact that it rained all day and night, the party was a success...and very cool too.  One of the highlights of the night was the birthday cake.  I had recently read about a rainbow cake here and decided to try the same approach with camouflage colors and turn it into a bundt cake.  Here is the result, plus a couple extras just for fun.

I used soft gel food coloring so that the colors would be more vibrant and to ensure that they wouldn't mix together when dropping the batter.

I'm in love.

I've fallen in love with blogging.  Ever since I started reading and following blogs (only a short time ago), I've felt a new sense of joy and anticipation in my days- on and off of the computer.  The ideas, people, the connections, the creativity...a never-ending fountain of inspiration- for the entire community to partake in!  So, yes, I'm a little inexperienced, I have butterflies in my stomach (lots), but most of all I am head-over-heels excited.
