Recipes: tried & true.

It was a gourmet weekend, of food & wine tasting with new friends, a delightful {"So Long Summer...Hello Autumn"} cooking class with my Grandma, and a continued 2-week-and-counting attempt to 'clear out the pantry' (aka:  use what we have - eat in - be creative - set the recipes-to-try aside for another day, or weekend).

So ... it would only make sense to "top" the weekend off with a Gourmet Hot Fudge Sauce - and because this is a place to share...

* Cook's Notes:
  • This delicious recipe was referred to me by my dad's wife- an author, an entertaining expert, a food writer, an original foodie, and a woman who cooks with ease, with skill, with passion (a trustworthy source, for sure).
  • For recipes that recommend Dutch-process cocoa powder (vs. unsweetened cocoa powder), I'd suggest the investment, as Dutch-process powder yields a deeper, richer flavor.

  4. sounds like a fantastic weekend. i just pulled out a recipe for making real hot cocoa that you can freeze and then just pop into hot milk. you know i'm going to try it!

    good for you to cook through the pantry. it always amazes me how much stuff we store up in there.

  5. oh how fun cooking with your grandmother and drinking wine and hanging out with good friends! This hot fudge looks awesome Torrie!

  6. Torrie - I don't know if it's just me, but your comments font is so tiny I have to increase my viewing screen just to read them! Just thought I'd let you know. :)

    Have you ever tried making this with anything other than corn syrup?

  7. Yum yum yum! I wish I had the ingredients because I would make it for the ice cream in my freezer!!

  8. Kim- Thank you for letting me know this! I am going to send you an e-mail inquiring further:).

    I have not yet tried it with corn syrup but do plan on doing so. I will let you know if I do and how it turns out.

  9. Life can be very tough sometime but there are certain things that help us forget and move on. Food is also a kind of therapy that can make life more happy and exciting.
