Each Wednesday, Danielle, @ Elleinad Spir, Emily, @ Notorious MLE, and myself are working our way through the lists of Listography 2011.
List #15...
List where your daydreams take you for spring break.
Daydreaming isn't necessary this week. We're in the midst of our spring break, and there's no where I'd rather be than right here, right now ~
Early morning road trips (with lots of quality conversation)...
{Ryan planned a perfect day to celebrate my birthday with my family this past Monday. Everyone was home for spring break, so we met bright & early and drove into L.A. I promise- this is the last birthday-related post.}
Starting the last day of celebration off right [@ Urth Caffe]...
Then onto the fish market to get the freshest catch...
{not too fond of the aroma}
Produce shopping for us [@ the Grand Central Market]...
And an 'Angels Flight' for them...
And back home for an afternoon of cooking, Clint Eastwood classics, Sangria,
& of course - birthday cake...
& of course - birthday cake...
{Cioppino & homemade sourdough}
Yesterday - an afternoon of sushi & art...
{Remember his Halloween costume?? Yep. He's a fan of gnomes.}
And an evening of evening of tapas.
Today? Base-board painting... Not quite as glamorous, but absolutely necessary.
And where do your daydreams take you for spring break? In a faraway tropical island, or in your file cabinet- sorting through paperwork from 1988? If you have a list of your own, link up below! If you don't have a post to link up, please share [with a comment] anyways.
*Next week, we can do a little more daydreamin'.
what a magical birthday celebration from start to finish!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect week. Cioppino & homemade sourdough?!?1 YUM!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun times, and the food;O) Thanks for sharing and drop by me too, soon.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
That photo of your daughter is too funny! My kids would be doing the same thing. :) Sounds like a great little trip!
ReplyDeleteOur lists are always super in-sync. I love downtown LA and I have to try out the funicular, they have them in Chile and I it would bring back some fun memories.
ReplyDeleteoh looks amazing!!! and i'm loving the gnome -totally the piece i would pick! :)
ReplyDeleteVacations are always fun but staycations are great, too :) Can't beat it sometimes!
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of gnomes, I get him :) And the Cioppino, do share!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect birthday. Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteOh sounds heavenly... Clint Eastwood classic and sangria - lovely. And love also that you had different fun things for your birthday - that is the best way! Also feel as though I'm getting to be a local down your way with these wonderful tours you're taking us on...love any market, including fish ones
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds crazy, but I have that shirt your daughter is wearing at the fish market. I went to a "What You Wanted To Be When You Grew Up" party. I wanted to be Rainbow Brite (remember her??), so I stopped in the kids section for some sparkle. I think she looks cuter than I did though - fish smell and all :)
ReplyDeleteLove downtown LA! and woohoo tapas!!
ReplyDeleteNow those are some good times...I want tapas right away btw!
ReplyDeleteWow- How much fun., Where do I even start, love having sushi then art- tappas are my favorite thing in the world but I don't get to have them very often because the restaurant (the good restaurant) is far away. Love the pics of your kids-especially the on of Haley in the fish market!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how the salmon turned out! Oh and the baseboards! Love ya
Jessica
@I'm Danielle Love it. We used a combination of Katie Lee’s Fisherman’s Stew (she didn’t have an actual cioppino recipe), Tyler’s West Coast Cioppino, and Giada’s Cioppino. Used red snapper (what they had that was fresh… and halibut was super expensive), clams, & large shrimp. They didn’t have fresh scallops… otherwise we would’ve used those too. Used Pinot Grigio and added lots of thyme- and other ingredients, of course. Seriously delicious. My mom has never had it, and isn’t usually a fan of clams, but said it was the “best soup ever!”
