Our weekend consisted of lots of homework (as seen below) & a quick outing to the field for softball tryouts.
Other than the tryouts, and a splash of red here & there, nothin' too exciting.
So, I decided I needed to spice things up a bit -
first with honey spice cookies...
{thanks to Tammy's inspiring post}
(experimented by using course cinnamon sugar, on the left, and fine sugar w/ red sprinkles, on the right)
and next with whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread.
{as inspired by Jessica, who found this via, but gave it a few twists, inc. w.w. flour}
Looking forward to slicing into this, & most definitely adding a little spice to our Monday morning.
Happy Monday :).
I'll bet your house smells heavenly after baking these!!
ReplyDeleteyum!
ReplyDeleteI love making food like this, makes me feel all cozy and warm. I can smell them baking!!
ReplyDeleteMmmm. I wish I was eating one of the cinnamon sugar cookies right now. Since I've gone back to work I haven't had as much time for baking. Which has been good (for my figure) and bad (for my tastebuds).
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea to use colored sugar!
ReplyDeleteYum. I made Honey Chili Salmon with Mango Strawberry Salsa----and no-knead tomato olive bread; I'm working on getting these posted at the food blog.
ReplyDeleteYummo! I am going to try these cookies for sure! Sounds like a happy little baking weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm so hungry now! Those cookies are calling my name.
ReplyDeleteYummy! They both look wonderful!! I just put a fruit cobbler in the oven, but now I want those cookies!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a great idea for photography. I love the composition of the pic of your daughter.
ReplyDeleteOh the bread looks so good torrie! We ate all of ours so I wish I was there to slice into yours with you! The pictures are great both of the fam and cookies/bread. I think I might make those cookies for V-day for our friends!

Jessica
I have those cookies that Tammy posted on my list for this week (I hope). They look so yummy!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting about softball tryouts! And those cookies and cinnamon bread look divine. Those would definitely add some spice to a Monday. Can I come over? ;)

Boy does that take me back...I loved playing softball when I was little!
ReplyDeleteOh my... that bread looks delish!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to make sugar cookies (or these would be fabulous as well I'm sure). I love love love decorating cookies for Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteI love your <3 cookies and that bread looks so tasty!!
ReplyDeleteHi there, nice to meet you, Jody here. Love your taking things in hand and spicing them. Otherwise ...it becomes a round of driving to endless soccer. The bread looks amazing. My mother is always trying to get me to buy a breadmaker but think I am waaay too lazy. Good on you!
ReplyDeleteSooo did you enjoy the corse or the fine sugar, best? I definitely love the look of the corse sugar! Nice selection of photos...and you've left me wondering if your decision to make and write about the whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread is a sign from above. Seriously....I just created a fantastic concoction in the kitchen at my office, and am thinking I need to try the homemade version of it. The treat would involve cinnamon raisin bread - but I've never made it homemade before...... =) Now I suppose I have no excuse not to try!!
ReplyDeleteI would just head on over and make myself at home but I am drowning in 12 inches of snow here! Send some to the icy prairie please?
ReplyDeleteBest,
Tina
The cookies look good and that bread looks great!I really might have to give that bread a try! I really like your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the red splash! so much fun! =)
ReplyDeleteTorrie-you are inspiring me for sure. Actually my sister is visiting this weekend and we are going to bake some valentines day cookies with Ariyana. And that bread looks amazing...perfect on a day like today where I am snowed in!
ReplyDelete@Mary @ stylefyles I liked the course sugar better, but I did like the extra sweetness that the fine added (since the course was more 'cinnamony' than sweet), so I think I'd up the sweetness (honey) in the cookie next time and top it with the course.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely recommend making this bread! I hadn't tasted it yet, when I wrote the post, and now I want to do another post on it... incredible- perfect density and flavor. It seemed slow to rise, so I let it rise a little longer (the Pioneer Woman's post/pictures helped), but because of this, I thought it wouldn't turn out well. But it did!
Let me know if you make it :).
Thanks for the visit! I am enjoying going through your archives! Those heart cookies are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThe bread looks perfect! I am definately making it...
