{Wine} Country @ heart.

We have camped all over California (and beyond), but we'd been looking for a permanent yearly spot- one that we loved so much where we could return each year... a home-away-from-home.   Four years ago, we found our perfect spot.  One that we always drive away from wishing we could have just one more week.  One that inspires us to slow down.  To celebrate life- and each other.  To gather around the table more and less around the t.v.  To create meaningful traditions.  To live sustainably and seasonally.

A few of our favorite simple pleasures...

The road trip.

Sonoma Coast camping.

Picnics, wine, & farmers markets.

Reflection.

Salt water taffy, chowder, brick oven bread...

...burgers & sweet potato fries @ Gott's Roadside.

And best of all, good ol' fashioned fun.

  3. Torrie, this looks like such a great trip! I love those vacations that give us time to relax, reflect, reconnect, and cultivate our family relationships. The pictures are beautiful. I think my favorite is the one of you and your adorable kids with watermelon slices in their mouths. It truly looks like the best time. Welcome back! I've missed you!

  9. What a glorious trip. It sounds like all perfect ingredients for a great family getaway. I agree these are beautiful photos. Wish I could see them bigger, but I love how you put these collages together. I can't imagine how much time it took. Someday soon, I will have to gather the courage to take my little ones on a long roadtrip like this. Glad you're back.

  10. I read your comments on Jody's blog (aboutlastweekend) on the RV "issue". I interested becauase still haven't made up my mind yet. Chris loves his RV trips but the only rent the RV. Sounds like maybe you liked the actual travelling (except for the accident of course) but it was the owning and maintaining of it that was tough. Is that right? Btw...the pictures from your Sonoma trip are excellent.

  11. I came over here today too - wow! Unbelievable pictures - Torrie this looks straight from a magazine! - and you're all having such a great time...you've sold me on doing this area better with the kids, though I'm not sure if we're hard working enough to run an RV.
