  3. A Moroccan cooking class? That sounds awesome! And I'm with you on focusing on staying in the moment. I read somewhere that women are expected to achieve "effortless perfection". You know, where everything has to be perfect but you can't acknowledge the work that went into it. I think it's pretty true that us women make ourselves responsible for everyone having a good time and not focusing on their own joy. Goodness. I've got to stop leaving novels in your comments. :) But I think it's great you're keeping that dark cloud from over you!

  5. Jenn,
You should know by now, that "I"- out of ALL people, do not mind long comments... coming from a self-proclaimed "long commenter" :)! Seriously, though- I was talking to a friend on Friday (sort of recapping the prior week, and talking about the upcoming weekend). I see so many women (myself @ times) running themselves RAGGED. And yes, much of the stuff is worth it, but if we're not including ourselves in the FUN- and making time to take care of ourselves, is it REALLY WORTH IT?? A constant struggle... but lately I'm trying harder to "win the battle." (cheesy, but true)

    Danielle-
Of course I'll be sharing!! :)

  6. Yes, the holidays can somtimes go by in such a blur, I'm trying to take it all in this year and stay focused too. It's hard though! Your weekend sounds so festive and fun! Mine was busy, but had a chance to see lots of friends, put up our Christmas tree and stockings, and watched Home Alone 2 (one of my favorites). Hope your Monday's going well so far!

  7. Wow, I LOVE the photo of your tree. Dreamy and frame-worthy. Hang in there and try to enjoy every moment. (And yes, I'm trying to take my own advice here as well.)

  11. I so do not want it to be a blur. I am trying to focus on the five most important things for us during the holidays. But it will also be easier for me this year because I will not be doing my usual hosting of the four-family Christmas Eve gathering. BTW, I've missed your posts. I'm sorry I've been absent. I fell into a terribly lethargic state over Thanksgiving week. Thank goodness I shook it off finally.

  12. gosh i totally can relate! it always feels like there is sooo much to do (even fun stuff!) that you don't have time to enjoy any of it... and then it's over!
looks like you all did some fun things though!

  15. You made me laugh/snort tea through my nose with your response! I think sometimes that other bloggers read my comments and think, "Jeez lady, save it for your blog" Hahaha! But I like getting long comments! It's hard to have a "conversation" through comments and I like to hear others opinions and stories!

    Long commenters unite!

  16. Rebecca-
I absolutely love Hipcooks!! I've taken several classes- holiday baking, tapas, soup focus group, an elegant, intimate dinner, and Paellas. I love their concept, approach, and style. They encourage you to adapt- not measure- and to substitute, according to your liking, to your "inner chef" as they say that WE ALL HAVE... and their recipes reflects that. It's so much more fun (and 'freeing') to follow that kind of recipe, and to cook in that way. The best part is that the class is interactive, hands-on... and the meal is enjoyed around a candlelit table (with music for the entire class) at the end. You seriously feel like you're at a dinner party- where you're helping the host at the same time. Please let me know any other questions that you have!

    Minnie-
I totally understand. I felt the same after TG... but I'm glad you're back!! :)

  21. I feel like we are always on the same page! I was living off the high from last weekend and now it's Friday again and I didn't check one thing off my list this week! I did, however, watch Serendipity, make and eat a lot of hot fudge, and get through my tivo list. My day today consists of one big checklist and ends with a holiday party.

LOVE, love, love the tree photo!!!
