The usual suspects.

a costume parade & a classroom party... cousins & trick-or-treating... chili & cornbread... pizza & wine... spooky glasses & sparkling cider... pumpkin carving & candle lighting... dry ice & {state-of-the-art :)} jack-o-lanterns... charlie brown & tim burton... black nails & only-on-halloween 'fashion' embellishments... candy & more candy...

... and two utterly exhausted parents.

  1. You win mom of the year! I barely managed to get dinner on the table and 2 pumpkins carved. The day (and sunlight) went way too quickly!

    1. thank you(!) but nooooo... here's the [unmentioned] behind-the-scenes...

my mom came and helped clean the day before (by noon, my horribly dirty house was spotless... like i told you, she's a rockstar when it comes to cleaning- & i did not inherit this "skill")...

ryan made the chili this year- AND the cornbread (while i re-cleaned everything that had gotten messed up- in ONE evening & morning- due to pre-halloween chaos)...

i carved my pumpkin in like 5 minutes (okay, maybe 10- but it was not my most creative jack-o-lantern :))- after ryan did the messy-digging-it-out part...

& then i ran in to help hailey get re-dressed up and took super quick shots in very quickly fading light (on all of the wrong settings- trying to accommodate for the lack of light)!

...& at the very last minute- as everyone was here- waiting to go trick-or-treating- i was in the bedroom putting my leggings & striped knee-highs on, black lipstick- and eyeliner-stitches across my forehead... my 2-minute costume- sans shower... that i never managed to squeeze in. :)

    1. We found the men’s “nightgown” (the strangest thing ever… it was fully enclosed, but it had little holes at the bottom for your feet to go through!) at the Goodwill. Ryan cut the bottom off and glued felt to make eyes. It was backwards, the front has a big zipper.

It just made me laugh… reminded me of the good ol’ days in which kids wore the simple ghost or hobo costume :).
