Although I do not yet have readers (a little weird by the way- writing to the "abyss"), I thought I'd introduce you to my favorite people in the whole, wide world.
Jacob (son, age 12), Hailey (daughter, age 6), & Ryan (husband)...next time I'll even include his handsome face:)
As Jacob has grown older, the need-to-be-cool-not-too-much-like-a-kid's-party requirement has called for a little more thought and creativity. This year, we decided to have a backyard campout. Except for the fact that it rained all day and night, the party was a success...and very cool too. One of the highlights of the night was the birthday cake. I had recently read about a rainbow cake here and decided to try the same approach with camouflage colors and turn it into a bundt cake. Here is the result, plus a couple extras just for fun.
I used soft gel food coloring so that the colors would be more vibrant and to ensure that they wouldn't mix together when dropping the batter.
YEAH! Torrie, I am so excited about your blog. Your kids are adorable and the cake looks delicious! I am so proud of you. This looks fantastic, you should give yourself more credit because you did a wonderful job. I am thrilled to me your first subscriber and I would follow if you had that option up here. I have found a great friend in you and I am so very thankful. Keep the posts coming, I can't wait! Love Jessica

So, you're not alone:)...I think you will LOVE it! And thank you for being my 1st subscriber! That way, I can continue to keep in touch with you!
Ok, so Sharon beat me! Torrie, I am so happy you are up and blogging! Last time we spoke (too long ago...), it was just an idea, so cool to see it come to life. I can't wait to get/share great ideas! How fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle
I finally had a chance to look at your blog for more than 1 minute in between classes! I really like it. I clicked on a link to another blog and found the cupcake recipe I made for my parents birthdays last weekend. Here is the link for her adaptations to the Vanilla Bake Shop cupcakes:

ReplyDeleteI am so :) that you made it over here, because I lost many of my contacts when I purchased a new computer. Thank you for stopping by and for the compliment. I really appreciate it. And when you have a chance, could you send me an e-mail w/ your address (e-mail address)? Thanks!
Torrie, you're blog is so amazing. That cake you made looks awesome. You have definitely inspired me to want to go bake a cake. I would have never thought to mix colors like that. I can't wait to see what else you post.

to use a word from my youth, how RAD is that cake torrie?! and the balloons in the rafters? I'm a big balloon girl. i love how they can instantly transform a space. and i love just letting them float, unanchored to anything. how i wish to be sometimes...
ReplyDelete(just checking out your early days instead of working on a post for my blog... although my post is inspired by you. =)
